SEO RANKING FAQ.
How can I check my SEO ranking for free?
Use Google Search Console. Under Performance → Search results, turn on Average position and open the Queries tab. It shows every search your site appeared for and where it ranked, straight from Google. Bing Webmaster Tools does the same for Bing.
Why is my ranking different when I search myself?
Google personalises results by location, device and your search history. A manual check in your own browser is not reliable. Search Console averages real positions across everyone who saw your site.
What does "average position" mean?
It is the average of your highest position each time your site was shown for a search. Position 1 to 10 is page one. An average of 15 might mean page one on some days and page two on others.
How often should I run an SEO audit?
A quick check every month in Search Console, and a fuller audit every 3 to 6 months or after a redesign, migration or big drop in traffic.
