KEYWORD DENSITY
Your most used words will show here.
HOW LONG SHOULD IT BE?
Word count matters less than whether the page answers the question fully. These are typical ranges, not rules.
| Type of writing | Typical length |
|---|---|
| Title tag | 50–60 characters |
| Meta description | 150–160 characters |
| Service or product page | 500–1,500 words |
| Blog post answering one question | 800–1,500 words |
| In-depth guide | 2,000+ words |
| College application essay | 250–650 words |
| LinkedIn post | Up to 3,000 characters |
| Instagram caption | Up to 2,200 characters |
Does word count affect Google rankings?
Not directly. Google has said it doesn't use word count as a ranking factor. Longer pages tend to rank for more searches because they cover more of a topic, not because they're long. If a short page answers the question completely, it can outrank a long one.
How to use keyword density
Use it as a repetition check, not a target. If one phrase makes up several percent of your text, read the page aloud. If it sounds forced, swap some uses for natural variations. Google understands synonyms, and so do AI answer engines.
COMMON QUESTIONS
How does the word counter count words?
It splits your text the way a browser splits words for the language you write in, so hyphenated words, numbers and contractions each count once. Chinese, Japanese and Thai text is counted by word as well, not by character.
Is my text saved or sent anywhere?
No. The counting runs in your browser. Nothing you paste is uploaded to our server or stored.
How is reading time worked out?
Reading time assumes 238 words a minute, the average for adults reading non-fiction silently. Speaking time assumes 140 words a minute, a comfortable pace for a talk or video script.
Does the character count include spaces?
Both are shown. "Characters" counts every letter, number, space and punctuation mark. "Without spaces" leaves spaces and line breaks out, which is what some essay and form limits ask for.
How many pages is 1,000 words?
About 2 pages single-spaced or 4 pages double-spaced, using a 12pt font and 1-inch margins. The counter shows a single-spaced page estimate based on 500 words a page.
How many words is a 5-minute speech?
Around 650 to 750 words at a comfortable speaking pace of 130 to 150 words a minute. Paste your script in and check the speaking time.
What is keyword density?
Keyword density is how often a word or phrase appears, as a share of all words. Common words such as "the" and "and" are left out of the single-word list. A high figure on one phrase usually reads as repetitive to people, and Google does not reward it.
How long should a title tag and meta description be?
Google cuts titles at roughly 600 pixels, which is usually 50 to 60 characters, and descriptions at about 920 pixels, usually 150 to 160 characters. The counter shows whether your text fits those ranges.
WRITTEN IT, BUT
NOT RANKING?
Word count is rarely the reason a page doesn't show up. We find out what is, and tell you what to fix first.
